In a world where video game makers continuously push the boundaries of technology, it’s always nice to get back to the basics. You know the 8-bit stuff we all grew up on. The folks at Love Hulten get it, and have built the Pixelkabinett.

A play on the words “pixel” and “cabinet,” this full-size, coin operated arcade machine was built entirely by hand. It’s inspired by old industrial cabinets, with a retro futuristic body that sits atop four rocket nozzle inspired feet to keep it stationary. The machine was designed for 2-player games, although you’ll be just fine binge playing into the wee hours of the morning by your lonesome. Limited to just 50 units in all, each cabinet features a glowing planetarium on the front, engraved saturn speaker grill, and a folding top that helps keep dust out when you’re not playing. They’re completely customizable, and come with a JAMMA board to hold anywhere from 19 to 138 games, or a modern MAME computer to upload your own games via USB. [Purchase]
