Locomotive Ranch Trailer Residence in Texas
Cherished possessions are an entirely subjective matter, ranging from Star Wars memorabilia to your gun collection, and a whole lot in between. For Andre Hinman Architecture’s client, that cherished possession was a streamlined aluminum trailer, and what the design team did with that trailer is simply amazing.
The owner was looking to relocate his vintage trailer to the family’s favorite spot on their South Texas-based ranch. The problem is that in its current state, the trailer wouldn’t be able to withstand the flash flood prone conditions of the riverside location. AHA came up with an innovative solution, constructing a steel-framed, metal-roofed cradle to house the trailer. This new structure provides all the protection the trailer needed, without killing the character of the original planned project. The trailer has been updated with everything from bamboo panels to LED lighting, and those floor to ceiling windows give the owner some breathtaking water views of the nearby river.
