There was a time when homebrewing your own beer meant commandeering a bathtub and putting together a hodgepodge mad scientist lab, the likes of which would make Walter White blush. But things, since then, have become far simpler and more accessible. And that’s just become all the more true thanks to a recent announcement from consumer electronics giant, LG.
Called the HomeBrew, this beer-maker has simplified crafting your own suds by incorporating a single-use capsule system — similar to those used by coffee makers — as well as a built-in optimized fermentation algorithm and self-cleaning features. There’s even an included companion app that’s compatible with both Android and iOS devices so you can check in on your beer anytime, anywhere. The state-of-the-art device is so clever — which can brew up to five liters of beer in just two weeks — it was already given a 2019 CES Innovation Award. Set to debut at CES and then launch for sale shortly thereafter, the system will include five beer styles to choose from — an American IPA, American Pale Ale, English Stout, Belgian-style Witbier, and Czech Pilsner.
