Prior to the release of Nintendo’s Wii U, gamers were mostly forced to choose between portability and capability when it came to gaming consoles. However, the floodgates are now open — thanks largely to the huge success of the Switch and Switch Lite (the far more successful Wii U follow-ups) — and some plucky brands are finally taking advantage of this seemingly-new category. Lenovo is one such brand, and have just announced the impressive NEC LAVIE MINI gaming laptop.
With an 8″ display, integrated keyboard, Core i7 processor, Intel Iris XE graphics, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD, the NEC LAVIE MINI is a fully-functioning folding PC — albeit a very compact one. On top of that, this PC can also transform into a handheld gaming console by folding the keyboard behind the display and attaching the included removable gaming controllers (it also supports 3rd-party controllers). You can even dock it to connect directly to your TV, just like the Switch, for full-sized in-home gaming. There’s no word yet on price, but we’ll be looking forward to more information about this exceptional video game-focused release in the near future.
