Leica M 246 Monochrom “Your Mark” Mirrorless Camera
Leica’s recent mirrorless offerings have certainly served to shape the future of the photography industry, revealing a number of highly anticipated successors to the German camera maker’s original lineup. And while the new Monochrom might not contain all of the cutting-edge technology housed in bodies like the Q2, it serves its purpose as a unique, limited-edition offering that’s sure to catch the eyes of would-be buyers.
The M 246 Monochrom “Your Mark” is much like the original platform, but instead of dressing the camera in a layer of modern paint, slapping on the latest-and-greatest hardware, and redefining the way the camera operates, Leica’s San Francisco-based retailer has joined forces with Horween, a proprietary leather purveyor, in an attempt to attract tasteful consumers. Instead of the typical exterior adornment, the M 246 Monochrom “Your Mark” features a soft, naturally tanned leather on the face, rear, and strap of the camera. A nostalgic black lacquer paint and matching Leica 35mm f2.0 Summicron-M ASPH II lens complete the iconic partnership. The camera is limited to 80 units and will be available exclusively through Leica’s San Francisco location.
