LEGO Technics has a long history of recreating Ferrari’s elite vehicles spanning back more than 15 years, though the Danish company has decided to up the ante for the 2020 holiday season, unleashing a Technics replica of Ferrari’s #51 488 GTE AF Corse race car.
The first-ever LEGO Technic model to be designed in collaboration with the Prancing Horse brand, the 488 GTE AF Corse brings the endurance racer to life with a 1,677-piece kit that measures 19” in length. Functional elements include the front and rear suspension, the steering wheel, an “active” aero kit, and a recreation of the 488 GTE’s turbocharged 4.0L V8 that boasts moving pistons. The kit also includes a host of impressive minor details, including pint-sized replica wheels, a rear wing, and the classic Italian tri-color livery complete with branding and sponsorship logos from Alessandro Pier Guidi’s 2017 488 GTE–which won that year’s FIA World Endurance Championship driver and manufacturer’s titles. Scheduled to go on sale on January 1, 2021, the LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 AF Corse will be priced at $170.
