This year marked the 36th anniversary of the beginning of the Space Shuttle. Used by NASA in between 1982 and 2011, it had a total of 133 successful missions – drastically expanding our knowledge of both our galaxy and Earth. To celebrate the accomplishments of the space shuttle program, members of the LEGO Ideas community are hoping to get official approval for their LEGO NASA Space Shuttle project.
Designed by the user KingsKnight, this kit is built to a 1:111 scale of the real, 182-foot tall shuttle. That means the finished project would be a whopping 20 inches high when fully assembled and upright. The scale isn’t the only impressive thing this kit has to offer. The features on the space shuttle will include separating solid rocket boosters and external tank, a Canadarm robotic arm, functional flaps, and little astronauts. No official word on whether or not this will be built and sold in stores, but if you weigh-in and support the project now it could very well become reality.
