LEGO’s Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone Set Is Finally Hitting Shelves

With LEGO’s expansive catalog of Nintendo-branded Super Mario builds, it was only right to envision a brick rendition of another quintessential video game icon. Tackling yet another fan’s concept out of their IDEAS submission program, their latest pays homage to Sonic the Hedgehog’s stomping grounds of Green Hill Zone.

With immense attention to detail, the Danish toy company has implemented a variety of references to the original game’s first level. Their 39th IDEAS set to date comes equipped with a boatload of gold rings, lever-activated springs, and, as eye-catching as ever, its iconic bridge loop that the speedy hedgehog has zoomed through time and time again. For added authenticity, all 7 Chaos Emeralds also make an appearance here with a stand to display them, making for a classic reference to the game while also representing a much easier process to nab each one as opposed to playing Sonic in its entirety. The set is composed of 1,125 pieces, a handful of which help construct Dr. Eggman and his Eggmobile, as well as Sonic himself, of course.

Nostalgic gamers and avid builders alike will be sure to get a kick out of this model based on the initial Sonic stage. Available at the turn of the new year, LEGO’s latest IDEAS set will be available starting January 1st for a humbly priced $70.
