LEGO’s 2,207-Piece Volkswagen T2 Camper Has A Bevy Of Functional Details

Over its expansive, nearly 90 year history, LEGO has produced sets recreating some of the world’s most iconic cars and vehicles. And after previously releasing a LEGO Creator kit of the Volkswagen Beetle, the Danish toy outfit has once again joined forces with the German carmaker to deliver a wildly detailed set of the iconic VW T2 Camper Van.

Standing at over 6” and spanning 13.5”, this 2,207-piece kit wonderfully recreates VW’s second-generation microbus, capturing the spirit and personality of the late ‘60s transporter. Functional elements on the van include a working steering wheel, a pop-up rock and roll-style roof bed with textile siding, a sliding door, a flip-up rear boot, and a flip-up (rear) hood that reveals the T2’s engine. The interior of the brick-built T2 also boasts a camper-style kitchen complete with a sink, stove, fridge, and swing-out table, as well as genuine textile curtains. The inside of the van can also accommodate an included removable surfboard and a pair of functional folding chairs. In addition to coming with a variety of stickers to adorn the exterior of the white and blue T2, this set also includes multiple (swappable) LEGO license plates. Scheduled for a release on August 1, 2021, the LEGO Volkswagen T2 Camper Van is priced at $180.
