Standard Land Rover Defenders are already some of the most rugged off-the-lot off-roaders in the world. But their ultra-rare 6×6 variants are even more unstoppable. As it turns out, however, they can be made even better in the hands of expert craftsmen, as evidenced by this Land Rover Defender 6×6 from Classic Overland.
Aptly named Project Black Mamba, the 3.5L donor vehicle was actually found in a South African firehouse with less than 20,000 miles on the odometer. And while the stock off-road vehicle is altogether impressive, the upgrades this one is getting are pretty magnificent. That includes dropping in a far-beefier GM LS3 E-ROD LS3 6.2L V8 engine capable of 430 horsepower and 425 foot-pounds of torque. And that’s just the beginning. Classic Overland has also envisioned a complete exterior and interior blacked-out makeover, a beefed-up suspension, new wheels, all-terrain tires, underbelly armor, a roll cage, a snorkel exhaust, a WARN front-end winch, and much more. Of course, that’s all going to depend on the wishes of the customer and comes along with a hefty price tag of $315,000.
