In spite of a painfully-short career and an exceptionally tragic end, Kurt Cobain has remained a major influence in pop culture. And for die-hard fans of the grunge god, Julien’s Auctions has a pair of extremely special offerings headed to the block: Cobain’s personal custom Fender Mustang guitar from Nirvana’s In Utero tour and the cardigan he wore in the band’s legendary MTV Unplugged performance.
Although Cobain passed a whopping 25 years ago, both of these items have been kept in fairly excellent condition — solely bearing signs of wear and tear as the result of use by the late rock star. And yes, that means the guitar is in playing condition — though we’d expect whoever ends up in possession of it to swiftly lock it up in a hermetically-sealed display case. Whatever the case, these two pieces of rock music history will make their appearance on the auction block at the October 25th & 26th auction, alongside memorabilia from a number of other music legends — including Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
