Kickspike Rebel Retractable Spike Boots

Even the most ruggedized winter boots are susceptible to slipping on ice. After all, that’s why mountaineering crampons were invented. Unfortunately, they’re also completely impractical outside of a winter hiking context. So, what does one do if he needs extra traction in the coldest months of the year for normal day-to-day activities? That’s what the Kickspike Rebel I Gen II work boots are for.

With a premium all-leather waterproof upper, Thinsulate Ultra Insulation, sweat-wicking Dri-Lex lining, and a sturdy rubberized outsole, these boots are equipped perfectly for winter wear. But they also have a little hidden trick: a button on the heel can be kicked to automatically extend a set of ice spikes from the bottom of the boot. That way, on any slippery frozen surface, you can get traction without any struggle or risk of falling. And, once you’re done, the spikes retract just as easily. Since they’re work boots, they also come with a protective composite toe to save your digits from being crushed, and they come with replacement spikes for an easy swap when yours wear down. They’re on sale now for $349.

Purchase: $349
