With Fall camping season approaching, we can finally look forward to some reprieve from the summer heat and humidity. Ask any outdoorsman and they’ll tell you there really is no better time of year than Fall for an extended weekend in the woods. However, early nightly chill can spell trouble if you’re not prepared ahead of time. Fortunately, Utah-based Khione Outdoor Gear has released a hammock shelter to mitigate these issues.

Dubbed The Shel, this is one hammock shelter that means business – purposed to replace the need for a tent altogether. Thanks to their proprietary technology, the Shel keeps you warm, dry and bug-free due to heat reflective lining and a ripstop nylon construction complete with waterproof sealant, rainproof vents, and mesh guarded windows. Additionally, it all fits into a 1.9-liter bag, only weighs a modest 20 ounces, comes equipped with a tension line to increase internal space, and is made from goose down for suburb ventilation. The best part? You don’t have to trade in your hammock to use the Shel, as it works with any single or double camping hammock. Available now for reservation on Kickstarter.
