Kachi Dome Lodge In Bolivia

Dec 3, 2018

Category: Living

For as long as humans have been aware of other planets, they’ve dreamt of what it might be like to live on the surface of one. For those dreamers who can’t wait for the colonization of Mars, there is a near-off-world experience waiting to satiate your travel desires.

Standing at the foot of the Tunupa Volcano on the barren Uyuni Salt Flats in southwest Bolivia rests a sprawling array of spherical structures that look like they were designed by renowned architect and futurist Buckminster Fuller. Each dome features transparent panels for an uninterpreted view of the star-studded sky and comfortable bedding with natural wood accents. Aside from fine dining and the night’s sky, guests can tour the nearby pre-Columbian archeological site or see mummies in a sheltered cave 600 meters over the nearby village Coquesa. This unique experience will begin accepting two-night reservations in February.

Purchase: $1,980
