This Flat-Packed PreFab Cabin Was Designed For Easy Home Additions
Working out of Hungary, Hello Wood is a design and architecture studio that specializes in small wooden structures that take unique, modern, and modular approaches to traditional cabin design. And the Budapest-based firm continues its signature style in one of its latest projects: the “Kabinka.”
Russian for “cabin,” the Kabinka is a versatile five-sided prefab cabin that packs and ships flat, and can be constructed using outside help, or via the DIY approach, using only “basic tools.” Offering 12.8’ of internal ceiling height (at its peak), the Kabinka is offered in four sizes, ranging from 130sq-ft to 215sq-ft (12-20 sqm). These small modern structures are designed to serve as vacation properties, guest houses, or backyard studios/home offices, and consequently come with a slew of upgrades and options to personalize to the user’s particular needs, including lofts, additional windows and optional glass walls, room partitions, bathrooms, and supplementary exterior claddings.
