Jim Carrey Spoofs Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln Ads
This is certainly shaping up to be one of SNL’s weaker seasons in recent memory (this past Saturday’s show included), but guest host Jim Carrey and crew did nail it with one bit on the Halloween show: the spoof of Matthew McConaughey’s bizarre Lincoln commercials.
The voice, the zoned-out stare, and even the lighting were all on point. The fake spots poke fun at the career choice of winning an Oscar and then doing a car commercial (“My agent was like, “I can understand if you did this right after The Lincoln Lawyer.”) But the climax comes when – spoiler alert – in a seemingly separate ad spoof, Allstate spokesman Dennis Haysbert (Kenan Thompson) gets hit by a still-pensive McConaughey in his careening SUV.
