It is hard to think of something that home assistants don’t do these days. Without lifting a finger you can ask your little pod from Apple, Amazon, or Google to tell you the weather, read out the news, and warn about traffic on your route to work. But there is one incredibly important box that these assistants all leave unchecked – the ability to pour a shot of whiskey. Thankfully, Jim Beam’s ‘JIM’ Smart Decanter is here to remedy that situation.

Jim Beam may not be a new and exciting tech company with sleek offices in Cupertino, but during their nearly 230 years of business – they’ve learned a thing or two about what it is people want. Unsurprisingly, it’s mostly good Kentucky bourbon. Now, thanks to this new home assistant, whiskey lovers worldwide can get a pour wile doing little more than asking. The robot, voiced by 7th generation Master Distiller Fred Noe, will gladly fill your glass. But don’t expect JIM to do much more than that.
