Marrying the principles behind motorized surfboards and hydrofoil boards, the Jetfoil is exactly what you may assume it might be. That is, a motorized hydrofoil board that hovers just above the water’s surface once enough speed is reached. Built out for those who are looking for the thrill of water-based board sports while minimizing the risk of getting wet, Jetfoil could very well be the next summer trend.
Whether it’s for fun at the local lake or river, out on the open waters of the ocean, or even for commuting across one of our many archipelagos, the Jetfoil will get you there. The mechanics are quite simple. The board just hosts a motor on the hydrofoil located beneath the water’s surface. This power enables riders to cruise at comfortable speeds above the surface of the water. It’s also controlled via a handheld remote and both the deck and the foil are made with the same high-end composites used in the construction of racing boats. These pieces are still under development so actual specs are limited, but more information can be found on their website.
