Wireless technology has undoubtedly changed our world, mostly for the better. And perhaps nowhere is that truer than in regards to headphones. And while the convenience of wireless headphones can’t be beaten, they do have one major downside: a fairly limited battery life. But the folks at JBL may have just solved that with their REFLECT Eternal self-charging solar headphones.
These on-ear listening devices actually boast a wide variety of features — many we’ve come to expect from wireless headphones. That includes 40mm drivers for clean and crisp sound, Google and Alexa voice assistant compatibility, hands-free calling, IPX4 waterproofing, Bluetooth connectivity, and even 24 hours of battery life. However, they’re also equipped with Exeger’s Powerfoyle technology — always-on solar charging that works both indoors and outside. In fact, if you wear these headphones around a light source for 2.5 hours per day, you may never actually need to plug them in to charge ever. They can even play music while they’re charging, adding to their handiness even further. Interestingly, the project is actually on IndieGoGo now with an entry price of just $99; but that will jump to $165 once the campaign is over, so you’d better act quickly.
