Product designer Jason Giddings has decided to follow in the footsteps of devices like the TrackingPoint Smart Rifle, merging modern technology with firearms through his Inteliscope Tactical Rifle Adapter.

With the help of the included iOS application, this device lets users mount their iPhone to a firearm’s tactical rail, displaying a ton of useful information through a heads up display system. While the scope itself might not be as crystal clear as a standard mounted scope, the iPhone offers a handful of useful functions including GPS coordinates, compass, prevailing winds, shot timer, ballistic info, flashlight, strobe and of course it also acts as a gun sight, right down to the 5x zoom capabilities. Although these features are impressive on their own, our favorite feature of Inteliscope’s offering is the ability to record each of the shots taken, a feature which could prove quite useful when it comes to improving our skill set. The Inteliscope Tactical Rifle Adapter will be hitting the retail scene next month, and will carry a retail tag of about $70.
