Iceland Wants To Turn Your WFH Sweatpants Into Custom Hiking Boots

After wearing sweatpants for well over a year of lockdown, it’s time to send your comfiest WFH bottoms out to pasture. Or, better yet, to Iceland, where a branch of the nation’s clever tourism industry is offering to turn your sweatpants into a custom pair of hiking boots.

The Sweatpants Boot is the brainchild of Inspired By Iceland, a consortium of Icelandic brands that promote tourism of the island nation to North American audiences. In order to obtain a pair of boots for yourself, you must reserve them and travel to Iceland in the month of July. Then bring your sweatpants to the Sweatpants Boots pop-up shop in Reykjavík and their artisans will handcraft your very own boots — for free. Personally, we don’t see why anyone would require any extra motivation to go to Iceland — it’s a gorgeous nation filled with kind people — but we’ve also never been ones to turn down a free pair of custom-made hiking boots; especially a pair that’s sustainably-made, water-resistant, and has sweet sweatpant cuffs. To reserve a pair of sweatpant hiking boots of your own, head on over to Inspired By Iceland’s website.
