Icon A5 Personal Aircraft
We’re still optimistic about the thought of personal aircrafts one day becoming the norm for daily commuters. While we are probably still a long way off from that day, the Icon A5 Personal Aircraft fills that void for the time being.
Thanks to the FAA’s “Light Sport Aircraft” category, former F16 pilot Kirk Hawkins was able to team up with the designers behind the Virgin Galactic spaceships to build this beautiful, sports car inspired amphibious airplane. For a price well north of $100,000, you can have the convenience of being chauffeured through the air at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour (of course you could always fly yourself as well). The interior looks like something you would find in a sports car rather than a tiny plane, complete with GPS, throttle, and even a MP3 port for listening to music. Adding to the list of convenient features, the A5’s wings fold up for better storage abilities. [Purchase]
