Adam Sandler’s admiration for the game of basketball has been made clear through a solid portion of the funnyman’s filmography, most notably so with the brooding performance he gave in Uncut Gems. And the Sandman’s love for the game takes center stage more than ever before in the newly-released trailer for the Netflix original film Hustle.

The film revolves around Sandler, a basketball scout who has discovered a potential game-changing talent in an overseas phenom, the latter of which is enacted by a legitimate NBA role player in Juancho Hernangòmez. Set in Philadelphia, the scout looks to have the youngster try out for the local 76ers. The film also stars the likes of Queen Latifah, star sophomore forward Anthony Edwards, champion point guard Kyle Lowry, as well as a handful of players from the Sixers’ roster — well, after the blockbuster trade that the team made last week, that includes a couple of former team members, too.

Sandler’s recent dramatic roles have made for an interesting change of pace from his signature brand of wacky humor that the SNL alum has spent the last three decades cultivating. The new film is produced by a pretty unforeseeable duo of guys in Adam Sandler and LeBron James, going to show that the latter’s passion on the court seeps directly into the entertainment world — at the end of the day, we all saw Space Jam: A New Legacy.

With anticipation for NBA All-Star Weekend upon us, it only makes sense to shine a light on a forthcoming film that nosedives into the determination and willpower it takes to make it to the league. Hustle is set to hit Netflix on June 10th.
