There was once a time when virtual reality was largely limited to gimmicky video games, but these days, it makes for some pretty groundbreaking technology. In fact, as VR has grown increasingly powerful over the years, more and more businesses have begun adopting it for everything from long-distance meetings to critical training simulations.
With the launch of the VIVE Pro 2 and the VIVE Focus 3, HTC is targeting these such commercial applications. In the case of the computer-connected Pro 2, you’ll find that it makes for quite the upgrade over its predecessor. Despite sporting some similar hardware, it now offers 5k resolution, a 120-degree field-of-view, as well as a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate. What’s more, the Pro 2 makes use of adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD) and 3D spatial sound to provide the user with a completely customizable and incredibly immersive experience. That being said, the Focus 3 is what received most of HTC’s attention. As with the Pro 2, it gains both 5k viewing and 120-degree visibility. However, it’s also seen a significant redesign, including a new strap, a swappable battery, and a front-mounted cooling fan. Pre-order them now for $800 and $1300 respectively.
