Hodinkee & Grand Seiko Develop An All-New GMT Watch From The Ground Up
As one of the leading experts in all things horology, Hodinkee is well-versed in putting out eye-catching collabs with some of the biggest names in the industry. And although Hodinkee and Grand Seiko have an extensive history together, their partnership has yet to produce anything quite this special.
A riff on Grand Seiko’s popular Automatic GMT watch, the SBGM239 Limited Edition for Hodinkee took over three years to develop. And that’s not all — it’s also the first project to emerge from the collaboration as a completely unique design. The dial comes in a handsome twilight blue inspired by ‘Yūgure’ — the Japanese word for the hours that comprise dusk — and is complemented by subtle grey hour markings. Housed in a 39.5mm stainless steel case and secured by a matching three-link bracelet, it makes for quite the versatile dress watch on-wrist. Inside, it’s powered by a self-winding 9S66 movement with a 72-hour power reserve. Rounded out by an intuitive integrated GMT function, adjusting your different time zones is as easy as a pull of the crown. Limited to just 500 pieces, you can pick it up for $5,400.
