Nearly three-and-a-half-decades after the initial release of the now-very-much-iconic Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, the California eyewear powerhouse has joined forces with fellow West Coast outfit, Herschel Supply Co, to deliver a limited run of their legendary shades that highlight a number of coastal and nautical themes indicative of both brands.
The new collaborative special edition version of the successful sunglasses retain the original model’s shape and profile while adding a few extra touches, such as new Herschel Supply Co. X Oakley branding and a removable slip fit Prusik strap. The new Frogskins also come in a “custom” red and blue roll-top case complete with a side-release buckle closure that mimics the look of full-size waterproof roll-up bags. Offered in two matte frame colors — Black and Tortoise or Tortoise — with gloss arms, the revamped Frogskins manage to update the epochal shades without losing the qualities and overall design that lead to the 1985 model’s immense popularity in the first place.
