Hemp Sunglasses by Sam Whitten
Hemp has become quite popular for constructing consumer goods as of late – hell we even recently saw an electric scooter made from the Earth friendly material. It looks like the trend isn’t slowing down either. Feast your eyes on these hemp sunglasses.
As part of the his upcoming Hemp Eyewear collection, designer Sam Whitten is looking to ditch the plastic in favor of something a bit more eco-conscious. To make each pair of shades, Whitten simply compresses and molds the flax and hemp under heat, and out comes a pair of sunglasses like the ones you see pictured. Of course those molds wouldn’t be able to stand up to the beatings people give their shades, so each pair has been treated with an eco-friendly bio resin that not only adds some strength to the mix, but also makes the glasses waterproof as well. No details on the price yet, but the brand is getting ready to launch the collection through their online store. [Purchase]
