Established in 2015, Helmade is a German paint and design outfit that specializes in producing bespoke-painted lids for both trackday enthusiasts and professional racers including everything from F1 pilots to MotoGP riders. And while the Frankfurt-based firm’s services were once only available to an elite few, Helmade has since expanded its offerings to include a wide range of bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, and auto racing helmets from leading brands like Arai, Bell, and Stilo — all of which can be custom-designed on the company’s proprietary online helmet configurator.

The configurator lets users select a helmet and then choose from any of the hundreds of different patterns and designs available on the site. Each one can also be customized, giving users the option to select base color, secondary colors, and highlight/accent colors from a slew of matte, gloss, frosted, metallic, or gradient color choices. What’s more, the configurator also allows users to select visor type and color, gives the choice of adding custom text, and offers the option for custom helmet liners. While they don’t come cheap, every helmet is meticulously crafted, being sanded, masked, and painted by hand, and is accurate down to 1mm. Most recently, Helmade has added several popular vintage-style helmets such as Bell’s Classic 500, Bullitt, and Moto-3 lids. You can configure your own custom helmet on Helmade’s website below starting from around $137.
