Heimplanet has always been on the bleeding-edge of outdoor gear and apparel, and when the company announced its groundbreaking inflatable “Cave Tent” over half a decade ago, it solidified itself as one of the most innovative outfits in the industry. Now, following a stream of successes with the off-grid shelter, the brand has revealed its next limited-edition release: the Black Cairo Camo Cave.
Adorning the Cave in camo isn’t anything new for Heimplanet, but it’s the tent’s unique inspiration that takes center stage here. Instead of pulling its influence from the wilderness, exploration, or any other number of cliche catalysts, the brand has decided to pay homage to the paved roadways of Egypt’s capital city, Cairo. Harkening back to the tiles and slabs that were a mainstay of the city in the middle of the 20th century, the Cave’s waterproof Ripstop polyester flysheet and nylon inner tent have taken on a shadowy, tactical persona. Aside from that, the tent remains unchanged. Its geodesic dome construction, durable materials, and proprietary “one-minute” pitch system are still alive and well. If you’re interested in acquiring one of these blacked-out models, you’ll have to act fast — the limited-edition Black Cairo Camo is available now via Heimplanet’s website for around $735.
