In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko has been releasing a range of limited-run watches throughout the year, each one more special than the last. So, while February brought us a Heritage Collection Hi-Beat 36000 and a suite of other special-edition models, the brand has one final surprise to close out 2020.
It’s called the Spring Drive GMT ‘Eagle’ USA Limited Edition SBGE263, and, as the name implies, the watch features a design inspired by eagles. For instance, it comes with a brown dial and bezel as an homage to the bird’s plumage — quite the choice in a market where black, blue, and green make up the sports watch status quo. But that’s not all — the watch also includes a unique pattern on the dial meant to represent an eagle’s flight, as well as a GMT arrow, finished in gold as a nod to the bird’s beak. Housed in a 40.5mm stainless steel case and powered by a Grand Seiko 9R66 automatic movement, it makes for a fitting anniversary tribute. Oh, and because of its Spring Drive functionality, the local hour will jump to the desired hour without the need to reset. Limited to 110 pieces, it’s available now for $6,700.
