Take an antique ball peen hammer and cast it in solid bronze with a black oxidized finish, and then turn it into a bottle opener. What do you have? The Beer Peen Hammer.
This hybrid bottle opener is cast on Chicago’s south side. It was originally conceived after someone handed the folks at Good Beer Hunting an antique ball peen hammer, noting that he thought it was a bottle opener. Alas, it wasn’t quite intended for bottle-opening, which is why the company took to the drawing board to craft up a design. The result is an impressively heavy to hold opener which pops caps with ease. It comes packaged in a waxed canvas tool bag custom designed, including a leather lace tie handle for hanging. The hammer is designed to wear over time to gradually reveal the bronze metal underneath for a bit of stylistic flair. It’s available now for $55. [Purchase]
