SCG Is Building This Safari-Style Rally Buggy To Race At Baja & Dakar
We love it when companies actually follow through and produce their most insane concepts, which is why we love the upcoming SCG 008 buggy from Glickenhaus Racing. The radical racer looks absolutely unreal, but Glickenhaus is actually making it. Not only that, but the company is engineering the SCG 008 to race in the Baja 1000 and Dakar Rally.
The Glickenhaus SCG 008 will not be sold as a complete car, but rather as a series of parts that you can assemble yourself. The chassis has already been completed, while work continues rapidly on the body. The company hopes to begin testing the vehicle by the end of March. A number of specs have already been made public, though, and it sounds like it’s going to be one fun ride. The SCG 008 is a two-seater with BFG 37” race tires, FOX Bypass shocks, and a Weddle HV1 gearbox. The buggy measures just 182” bumper-to-bumper and weighs in at a healthy 3,500 lbs. Due to regulations, the car can’t be shipped with an engine, meaning you’ll have to choose and supply your own powerplant. No pricing has been announced, but you’ll definitely be able to build your own buggy in the future.
