To say that Girl Skateboards and its co-founder, Spike Jonze, are synonymous with the history of urban street culture would be an understatement. As such, the filmmaker, actor, and photographer has led a prolific life as one of the industry’s most well-connected individuals, especially when it comes to mainstays within New York’s hip-hop movement. To honor one of the city’s biggest acts, the Beastie Boys, both Jonze and Girl have joined forces to create an archival capsule revolving around the band, calling upon emblazoned tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, and skate decks that host an array of vintage visuals.
Aligning with Spike Jonze’s recent documentary revolving around the Brooklyn-based trio, as well as Rizzoli’s recently-released Beastie Boys book, Girl Skateboards’ unique capsule boasts five distinct skate decks, each of which is available in a range of sizes, dimensions, and geometries. Complementing the diverse range of boards, a small selection of long-sleeve, tee, and sweatshirts have also been released, adding to the range’s nostalgic ambiance through the adoption of vintage photographs from the band’s Check Your Head era, Sounds of Science anthology, and more. Naturally, most of the items are already sold out on Crailstore’s website, but you can still head over to learn more about the collaboration and pick up one of the few remaining pieces for $28 and up.
