‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Reveals A New Generation Of Specter Hunters

In 1984, a half-baked crew of paranormally-adept misfits made film history with the original Ghostbusters. This cult-classic-turned-iconic-essential was directed by Ivan Reitman and followed the series’ protagonists Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, and Egon Spengler on a fantastical ghost-hunting journey through New York City — as did the sequel. Now, fans of these classic horror-comedies are getting the continuation they’ve always wanted.

A new film dubbed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, directed by Reitman’s son, Jason Reitman, has finally been revealed in all of its cinematic bliss. The project’s most recent trailer plays host to a bevy of new faces, including the likes of Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard, alongside possible cameo appearances from two of the film’s original protagonists. Audiences are introduced to a single mother and her two children who, after moving to a rural town, experience a series of abnormal twists that ravage the community. As paranormal activity ensues, Grace & Wolfhard discover their grandfather Egon Spengler’s old ghost hunting gear, as well as the series’ lauded 1959 Cadillac Ecto-1 vehicle, catalyzing the family’s parapsychological roots, and spurning them into action for yet another action-packed adventure.
