Over the company’s more than 80-year run, Gerber has introduced a diverse array of knives and gear, suitable for an equally diverse bevy of customers and applications. And while the Portland-based outfit seemingly already offers something for almost everyone, the business is now looking to offer an even more personal experience through the use of its new online custom knife configurator.
Thus far, the Northwest knife maker is offering this bespoke service for four of its knives: the Fastball, Sharkbelly, and US1 folders, as well as the Strong-arm fixed blade. The easy-to-use online configurator allows customers to personalize almost a dozen different elements on each of the four US-made blades. This includes the handle material — ranging from CNC-machined G-10 to anodized aluminum — and a choice of laser mark, blade type and laser mark graphic, and a selection of color and material choices for the knife’s liner, axle, inset, backspace, fasteners, and clip. The configurable range starts at $31 for a customized US1 — $10 over the knife’s regular price — and goes up to $170 for a fully-optioned Fastball.
