We’re seeing quite a few minimalist shoes hitting the market nowadays, with each newly revealed design being thinner and lighter than the last. But instead of using lightweight shoes to achieve the ultimate control over your feet, FYF Socks by Swiss Barefoot wrap your feet in a type of wool called Dyneema which is not only protective of your feet, but also abrasion-resistant, hydrophobic, flexible and lightweight.

The FYFs are made from the specially-engineered type of wool that protects your feet while offering comfort, and include grip dots on the bottom for comfort. In fact, the material is 15 times stronger than steel. It’ll protect your feet from things like sticks, thorns and sharp rocks that are lurking beneath the sand or in the ocean. The project has already been funded on Kickstarter, and is available for $50 per pair to early backers, with an estimated delivery date of January 2016. [Purchase]
