Though Formawerx originally only offered bespoke car keys for the Land Rover Defender and Porsche 911, the Los Angeles-based outfit has more recently been catering to owners of classic Japanese rides. And after debuting its Ignition FD key for the Mazda Miata and RX-7, Formawerx has revealed the latest addition to its JDM-focused lineup with a brand new bespoke key model for all of Nissan’s legendary Skyline and Skyline GTR cars.
Christened the Ignition GTR, the key was penned by a renowned ex-Audi designer and was born out of an extensive development process that included more than 100 different design iterations before landing on the final product design, which was then subsequently precision-machined in California from Perpetua stainless steel billet. What’s more, the design itself draws clear inspiration from the Skyline, with a boxy and somewhat angular profile complemented via a pair of drilled-out holes that are reminiscent of the taillight setup on the R33. Formawerx also offers optional services including key-cutting, diamond engraving, and an option for a logo delete. Compatible with the Nissan 200SX, 180SX, 240SX, Silvia S13, Silvia S14, 300ZX Fairly Z31, and Z32, as well as 1993 to 2004 examples of the Subaru Impreza, the Formawerx Ignition GTR key is available now with pricing set at $300.
