Ford Unveils A Trio Of Bronco-Based Race Trucks For The 2021 King Of Hammers

With delivery of the Bronco delayed until at least mid-summer because of pandemic-related supply issues, all eyes are on Ford to see when the SUV’s retro redux will finally come to fruition. It’s been a painfully slow process up until this point, but at least the Detroit-based automaker has kept our spirits high by teasing the platform’s potential along the way.

Take, for instance, this trio of race trucks that Ford’s entering in the ULTRA4 4400 unlimited class of the 2021 King of the Hammers. Loosely based on the Bronco 2-door model, each truck features a completely bespoke tubular chassis that’s been optimized to meet event’s demands. And that’s not all — elsewhere you’ll find a set of long-travel shocks for soaking up the rough stuff, a custom 4×4 driveline for confident traction, and ample off-road rubber to get up and over tricky obstacles. Under the hood, Ford has kept pretty tight-lipped about the specifics, but it goes without saying that it’ll be high-powered, loud, and torquey as all get out. And when you consider that each truck will be helmed by the likes of Vaughn Gittin Jr., Loren Healy, and Jason Scherer, it makes for a recipe for total race day domination.
