FlyKly Smart Wheel

Electric bikes are all the rage these days, and while there are a ton of options to choose from, there aren’t any options that let you transform your current pedal powered bicycle into an electric bike.  New York based FlyKly is looking to change all that with their innovative Smart Wheel.

The Smart Wheel is a rear bicycle wheel that features a motor, battery, and all the electronics built inside the actual wheel itself – meaning it can be installed on literally any bicycle. Once you start pedaling, the smartphone controlled motor will engage, helping you accelerate to your desired cruising speeds, cutting commute time in half while also helping you save your energy while battling those steep hills in the city. The motor will recharge itself while pedaling, but can also be plugged directly into a wall outlet. Other convenient features include the ability to lock your bike remotely using the FlyKly app (iOS and Android compatible), and in the event your bike does get stolen, it will be tracked via GPS, making it easy to recover your 2 wheeled companion. Check out the video below, and support Smart Wheel on Kickstarter.
