Upon its founding in 1978, NOMAR was little more than a side project based out of a converted GMC school bus. However, since that time, the Homer-based brand has expanded its operations considerably, with the addition of a sprawling 10,000-square-foot workspace, an assembly of 16 employees, and an all-new retail store. It’s a classic case of some good ole fashioned rugged individualism.
As part of its latest collaboration with Filson, NOMAR has crafted a series of Alaska-inspired offerings that can handle the worst the weather has to offer. Headlining the collection is the Alaska Fish Picker Pullover, a hoodie made using Polartec Windbloc fleece and a layer of waterproof neoprene laminate. In addition to being incredibly breathable and comfortable to wear, it’s extremely easy to clean with just a quick rinse from the hose. And that’s not all — the collab also includes a pair of Dutch Harbor Pants and a balaclava-like head glove. Made to be quick-drying, resistant to wind and water, as well as lightweight and stretchy, they make for ideal base layer items in colder climates. Prices range from $55 to $285, with a release expected sometime soon.
