The last thing that the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta needed was a performance boost. But with the new F12 TdF, Maranello has beefed it up anyway. Why? Well, because sometimes fast just isn’t fast enough.
In fact, the new 6.3-liter V12 engine has seen a performance boost from 730 horsepower to 769, with torque increasing from 509 pound-feet to 520. It’s new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission allows for upshifts 30 percent faster. The wheels are slightly larger, and the track is wider. The bodywork has been redone as well, as it’s now lighter and more aerodynamically tuned. Thanks to its extensive use of carbon fiber and the back-to-basics, stripped-down cabin, the car is also 240 pounds less than the stock version. These changes result in a 0-62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds, and a car that tops out at over 211 mph. Ferrari will only manufacture 799 of these, with a price yet to be revealed.
