Fenix Deploys A Magnesium-Cased, 1.5K-Lumen, BOA-Fitted LED Headlamp

In the summer of 2019, Fenix introduced its HM65R model, a seven mode, 1,400-lumen, magnesium-cased, USB-C-rechargeable model with robust impact and weather-resistance ratings. And now, 18 months and several hundred five-star reviews later, the Littleton, Colorado company has announced the debut of the new and improved predecessor to the HM65R with the HM65R-T.

The newly redesigned T-spec retains the original model’s magnesium-alloy housing, 6.6’ drop rating, and USB-C port though now offers an extra 100 lumens and an impressive 558’ beam distance thanks to the use of Luminus SST40 LED emitters. Now IP68 rated for dust and water-proofing and backed by a lifetime warranty, the 3.21oz HM65R-T can operate at extreme temperatures ranging from -31°F to 113°F (or -35°C to 45°C). What’s more, it’s 18,650mAh battery’s maximum runtime of 24-hours can be monitored via a five-light LED indicator, a pivoting head allows the beam to tilt down up to 60-degrees, and lockout switch-enabled polymer buttons prevent the light from being turned on while in a bag or pocket. The biggest update, however, is undoubtedly the addition of a newly-designed widened hollow headband that’s now secured via a BOA fitment system. Available now, the Fenix HM65R-T magnesium outdoor headlamp is priced at $100.
