Ray-Ban, maker of some of the most iconic sunglasses in the world, has teamed up with Facebook on a line of camera-equipped smart glasses that are designed to share their wearers’ experiences on social media.
The Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses line crams a load of tech into three classic Ray-Ban silhouettes: Round, Meteor, and the most notable of all, Wayfarer. The glasses feature two 5MP cameras that offer hands-free photo-taking and video-recording to the tune of 2592×1944 pixels for still photos and 1184×1184 pixels at 30 fps for video. The glasses can be controlled via embedded touch controls in the temple and Facebook Voice Assistant, while two open-ear speakers and three microphones allow you to listen to audio and chat on the phone. Equipped with both Bluetooth and WiFi, the glasses sync to your phone through the new Facebook View app, which allows you to easily share your captured moments to your social media accounts. The glasses’ lenses come in blue-light-blocking clear, Transitions, and a variety of sunglass shades — including some polarized options — all of which have the option to be made into prescription lenses.
