When it comes to classic and iconic SUVs, few are quite as noteworthy as Mercedes-Benz’s G-Class. Unfortunately, however, the resale market is rife with examples in disrepair — making getting your hands on one a bit of a hard sell. There are other options, though, like getting a completely restored custom G-Wagen from the Expedition Motor Company.

As you might have gathered, Expedition Motor Co. is a group of experts in all things Mercedes-Benz — though their specialty is in rebuilding, restoring, and modifying the famous early military-derived examples (known colloquially as the “Wolf”). And their restoration process is rigorous — starting with a comprehensive inspection; followed by a frame-off disassembly and complete rebuild/restoration (including the brakes, suspension, drive train, engine, body panels, and more); and then the whole thing is rebuilt to your exact specifications. All told, around 1,000 man hours go into each build. And the best part is, they have an online customizer, so you can play around with options before ever having to put your money where your mouth is. Of course, they also have a number of pre-built options to choose from, if you’re ready to drive one off the lot today. Pricing starts at $80,000.

Purchase: $80,000+
