Everyday Carry: Five Alarm

While perhaps best known as an extremely spicy variety of chili, “Five Alarm” is actually a reference to one of the standard levels of severity and number of responding units for fire emergencies in a municipal area. For reference, a 5-alarm fire in New York City requires the response of 21 engine companies, 11 ladder companies, 9 battalion chiefs, and several other squads and officials. With that in mind, this week’s pocket dump was put together with inspiration from the brave men and women around the world who risk their lives to combat those fires. Because even heroes need a good set of everyday carry gear.
