Everyday Carry: Drive

Category: Everyday Carry

For many folks, driving is a distinct pleasure that they pursue in their free time — be that in a high-speed performance supercar on a race track or down a coastal highway in a classic convertible. For others, they’ve turned that passion into a professional career. Like any pursuit, however, driving requires a specialized loadout of everyday carry gear to make the most of it. And while that varies from person to person, job to job, we’d like to think that there are at least a few commonalities. For instance, getting to your destination on-time is often of the utmost importance, so you should be wearing a watch (yes, even if your car has its own onboard clock). Similarly, having the sun in your eyes can impede your ability to drive safely, so you should don a pair of sunglasses. If you happen to look a bit more like Ryan Gosling’s nameless protagonist anti-hero from the 2011 film Drive in the process of acquiring and using this gear, well that’s just an added bonus.

Autodromo Stringback Driving Gloves

Though perhaps a bit of an anachronism in today’s driving world, some people still prefer to don driving gloves when they go out for a spin — especially if they own a classic car with a wooden steering wheel (which is what the gloves were originally for, anyhow). And the folks at Autodromo make this stunning pair out of sheep leather and cotton. If you want to feel like a real driver, you’re going to need these gloves.

Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Bentley Watch

Though certainly out of reach for the average person, there’s no denying the power and recognizability of the Bentley name. Turns out, the British car manufacturer also has a long-standing relationship with the watchmakers at Breitling, which resulted in the Chronomat B01 42 Bentley Watch you see here. Along with the co-branding on the dial, it also sports a Bentley green hue on the said dial, a trio of black chronograph sub-dials, an automatic movement, a tachymeter inner bezel, a steel case with a unique matching band, and so much more. You don’t have to have a Bentley to own this watch, but it doesn’t hurt matters, either.
