True to its form, a floe is defined as a drifting ice sheet that has previously broken off from a larger glacier or icy land mass. And while none of us here in the Lower 48 reside atop this type of drifting phenomenon, it sure has felt like it in some parts of the country this week. Bone-chilling temps, frozen ground, and frostbite-inducing wind chills are all the rage. Welcome to the cold hard truth of late January.

From here, we often find ourselves torn between either cowering to the cold or staring these frigid temps in the face —pushing forward in our day-to-day — because there’s always work to get done and we shouldn’t let winter’s grip get the best of us. So, as the saying goes, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” And that’s what we’ve gone ahead and done with a roundup of icy gear positioned to keep you warm throughout the floe of polar vortexes sweeping down from the Arctic and into our backyard.

Iron & Resin Hemlock Shirt

One key to keeping warm during the winter season is layering. That said, Iron & Resin’s Hemlock Shirt, therefore, acts as a superior mid-layer for the winter commute. And since odds are the temps within the office aren’t sub-zero, there’s just enough casual professionalism here to remain on-brand with the typical workday getup. It’s all thanks to an 8oz 100 percent organic cotton brushed back fleece construction, double needed felled seams throughout, and the complementary likes of chest patch pockets along with a button cuff and sleeve placket.
