A new phone with a full display, an incredibly high resolution camera, and no headphone jack has just been announced. We know what you are thinking, ‘new iPhone?’. As it turns out, the new Essential PH-1 Smartphone may be the furthest thing from it.
Designed by the same man behind the Android operating system, the Essential phone is looking to put big players like Apple, Google, and Samsung, on their back foot. How, exactly, does this phone deliver on that promise? To start with; it has a big, beautiful edge-to-edge display – much like Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and the rumored upcoming iPhone 8. As for the actual build of the phone, it is made from a titanium and ceramic, making it much more resilient to drops and regular wear and tear. The most notable part of the phone, however, may be the fact that it allows for modular attachments. Essential’s flagship? A high quality UHD 360 camera that can shoot 3840×1920 images at 30 frames per second. For the nerds out there who care about the nitty gritty stuff, the phone will run on Android Nougat 7.1.1, and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, along with 128 gigs of internal storage. With rumors flying around that Apple’s new iPhone will start at $1,000, this may be the perfect opportunity to jump ship to another OS.
