Pretty much anyone who has ever ridden on a skateboard has daydreamed about being able to just glide along the pavement without having to push every ten or so feet. It make sense then that when the technology caught up to that dream, more than a few companies have started to make electric powered longboards. None up until this point, however, have made anything like the eon.

eon is the world’s first modular powertrain for skateboards and longboards. Designed to fit any board, you can just attach it to your go-to deck and let it rip. With a top speed of 22 miles per hour and a range of 7 miles (15 if you get dual motors), it’ll completely change the way you move around the city whether you just live for speed or want a cheap way to get to work. Like most things today, the motor communicates with a smartphone app that will give you a read on how much energy you have left in your batteries, or how fast you went up a hill. Prices for the skateboard motors start at $660. [Purchase]
