A classic car is really only as good as the story that comes with it. The more compelling a vehicle’s history, the more attention – and money – it’ll garner. By that measurement, we’re pretty sure Elvis Presley’s 1958 BMW Roadster could drive a pretty serious price.
The King’s old set of wheels were originally purchased at the tail-end of the 1950’s while Elvis was serving in the military. As the story goes, he leased it after seeing the hillclimb champ Hans Stuck race it at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry in France. Just like the famous singer himself got a huge amount of love and coverage, his car, too, was featured in magazines and movies – even receiving kisses and numbers written on the body in lipstick. Eventually the car was sold and lost track of until just recently when BMW group got their hands on it. Still retaining the car’s original 3.2 liter V8 engine (which has the ability to get the car up to 127 miles per hour), this car has been fully restored and given its old Feather White coat of paint. The car will makes its first public appearance at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 21st.
